age uk taking care anywhere Alarm pendent

I know this is random but does anyone else have experience of this product.

It’s £26per month so wanted to see what everyone else thinks of it before jumping in. I know it’s probably a long shot.

Have you checked the local council to see if they offer a similar service at less cost. Our does but I'm in Scotland. I know people have had a problem with the wearer removing them to wash/sleep then fall & can't reach the alarm.

If its similar to a Hears Alarm hearsalarm/ it was invaluable for us before my mum and dad went into a care home. We found it via the council. Dad would have a fall in the night and mum was blind so couldnt use the phone. By having a Hears Alarm bracelet/pendant either of them could press the button and there would be someone to talk to very quickly. The service would deal with falls as they had equipment or 999 calls if required. It was a godsend to us.

DH has that exact alarm though I think we pay around £50 every three months with £150 set up costs.
Got to say they are on the ball, woke up one morning to the neighbour knocking on the door, my phone and the house phone ringing as DH had accidentally set his off.
I think we didn't have to pay the set up costs if we did it ourselves however got them to do it for much less hassle.

Yes she used to pay for the council one when my grandpa was alive and must have had in nearly 10 years but she cancelled it a few months back as it didn’t go down to her bottom garden where she spends a lot of time and is a probable place for her to fall and her friend had the same one and she slipped and broke her arm all they did was call the house phone for an hour and then came to the house when she didn’t answer. The found her on the floor unable to move, then drove her to hospital but for me if something happens my gran really needs to get through to someone, it’s unlikely she would get to the house phone.

She did try and buy a cpr guardian watch but didn’t know how to set it up and then sent it back before I did it for her. Don’t think she would have known how to use it.

I think it sounds similar. I’m just finding it really expensive. But I feel she might need something as last few years she is going down hill.

Put a camera in the garden. We used one called blink from Amazon. £100 and operates on batteries. It’s a brilliant camera that lets you keep an eye on vulnerable family.
System is easy to set up and flawless. Notifications are brilliant.

Yes my hubby said what about cameras but I’m not sure she would like that. I don’t know if we could get something like that down to the bottom garden as it’s a farm so it’s past 5 stables so quite a way.

Am going to have to ring a few places round and see what we can do but it’s very expensive for all these things.
