Last minute booking - villas

So, we’ve booked a back up in case our 1 August holiday doesn’t go ahead (the back up may not go ahead either, but thinking positive!).

We’ve booked a fly drive, but won’t be booking accommodation until we know we are definitely going (may be a week before).

We want a villa - how much availability will there be? We usually book everything way in advance, so this is new territory for us. This is for 18-31 August.

Consider VRBO they have villas that are fully cancelable up until close to arrival date. I recently cancelled and the deposit refund was in my account in 48 hours. Just check the terms of any villa carefully as they vary, some 2 months, some one month, some 14 days.

The American market is keeping most villa owners afloat at the moment however your dates are after the American schools return so you probably have a good chance.

I'm hoping your 1st of August trip goes ahead as I'm due to go the same day, if it doesn't go ahead my back up is September, so I would have availability if they don't open the boarders until after the 1st of August.

As munmun said, I’d book a refundable one on VRBO now and reassess nearer the time.
