Thanks for the tip about the gun range. We went shooting in Vegas last year and really enjoyed it, so we've been thinking about trying to fit in a range trip this year, but might give that particular one a miss. It's something we can't do here and we like trying new things when we're on holiday.

Did you go to any bars in Austin? We were hoping to catch some live music but are wondering what the situation is with taking kids in. I wonder if there's a general policy or if it varies from bar to bar. Unfortunately the Broken Spoke is shut on the days we are there.

We didn't do any bars in Austin so I don't know. I know they are strict on their child policy but we didn't risk it... x

Got an email from ebookers to say that our Dublin flight had now changed from 11.10 to 9.50 am, which means we have just over 4 hours in Heathrow before our Dallas flight. I looked at other options to see if they could move us but then talked it over with Paul and we decided not to bother trying to change it. We figured we'd only be hanging around at the hotel or at Dublin airport and we'd both rather get to Heathrow and relax, knowing that we have plenty of time and there is enough to keep us busy at Heathrow anyway.

|Nearly time to book our train tickets. Woohoo!

Train tickets have been bought - I set up alerts with trainline so that we knew when the advance tickets had been released and now they have been bought for both outbound and return journeys.

I have a to-do spreadsheet and I love ticking off the tasks as the holiday gets nearer! We have been watching Friday Night Lights in preparation and now the next task is to book a tour of the AT&T stadium where the Dallas Cowboys play as we now have a new-found love of American Football. Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose!

SDD day today!

Can't believe the holiday is nearly here! It's been so long since we booked and started planning and it seemed like forever until we could go - and now we are nearly ready. Just 4 more days at work for me and 6 for Paul.

I've put all the hotels into the satnav and I'm going to add other places, eg restaurants/places of interest. Next job is the holiday playlist!

Sorry nearly forgot to add for anyone who fancies a trip to the lone star state our flights were 250 return for late this month and 400 return for the August school hols which was too much of a bargain to miss and makes up for not being able to go to Florida this time flights are singapore airlines direct flights as Manchester is a refuelling stop before arriving at Houston hence the fab prices well worth a look if you can travel from up north and a very nice change from Orlando flight prices
