Sixt toll rip off ?
I am pricing up for a car for a week in October, picking up at MCO and dropping off at Fort Lauderdale. Sixt are coming quite a bit cheaper but I understand Sixt are a bit of a rip off when it comes to tolls. Does any one know their charges. I have tried to look on their site but it isn't particularly clear.
Thanks in advance for any help. |

It's $7.99 per day plus tax plus toll cost. There doesn't appear to be a cap like some other companes whoc charge $4 or $5 per day but cap it at $20-$25 for the whole rental. Also I believe, if you don't opt in at time of rental they also charge a $5 admin fee per toll.
Here is the info on all companies: sunpass/rentalcar

Thank you. looking at the sunpass site it will be cheaper to stick to Alamo I think even though their car is £35 more expensive. I read it that Sixt charge the daily fee even when you don't use it. If we only use the tolls when we go to Fort Lauderdale ( we also have a habit of getting lost even with a sat nav and accidently going through a toll !) Alamo will still work out better.
Trying to cut corners as car hire seems so much more expensive this year ! |

OP is saying they'll drop the car at Fort Lauderdale
In the Miami Area there are toll roads that are fully automated, with no option to pay cash. It makes it very easy to find yourself on a toll road, so better safe than sorry. With alamo, you pay cash you don't get charged. You hit one automated toll you pay $4, the end. With Sixt, you pay the $7.99+tax) charge for each and every day of your rental, even if you hit that toll once, by sheer mistake, and you pay their $5 admin fee on top of that for each toll. so let's say you hit a toll by mistake, in the miami area, with no cashier/exact coin basket let's say you rent for 14 days : alamo : $4 + toll + tax sixt : $117 + toll + tax Edited at 11:20 AM. |

Fort Lauderdale is North of Miami and the automated tolls so OP will be ok paying cash to get there which is a cheaper than paying fees to Alamo.
