The company I work for buys Easter eggs for all staff every year, over 1000! They arrive on pallets! We also get a tub of chocolates or bottle of wine at Christmas, and also a Cadbury’s advent calendar each, so bulk buying around here certainly isnt frowned upon by our local Tesco.

Most years someone at work always does a collection station for unwanted Easter eggs and they get taken to the children’s ward or the food banks.

I’m as cynical as they come, but I don’t think it’s out of the ordinary to be buying things like this in bulk, hopefully just spreading some chocolatey joy around, rather than reselling!

Did you miss the dibber who admitted her husband does just this?

Anyway my question was is it illegal to resell and the answer I now know is no. It's not even illegal to split multipacks and sell them individually despite the notices on the packet "not for individual resale' or whatever. We live and learn.
I still don't understand why people aren't going to Costco or Makro for bulk buying but I'm sure there's a reason.
Moral of this story if you see an offer grab it quickly before someone clears the shelves.

Sue, I do think they should limit special offers to so many per person. The problem is that Costco/makro is often more expensive than some of the supermarket offers.

I have a true story about packs of teacakes that were out of date. I won't tell the story on your thread without your prior permission?

I should mention that should you wish to hear my story, I will be out for a few hours. My wife is insisting that I go to asda to get some shopping because she said I'm only doing a couple of small jobs today (one about 20 minutes, and the other about 30 minutes). I think she is taking liberties because despite how small the jobs are, I risk electrocution, so my job is similar to that of a bomb disposal expert. Where is the justice?

Special offers like this should be limited but at the same time the person shopping could be genuine, my daughter used to go to a youth club and every child that attended regularly got an egg, they used to charge £1 a week 50p of that was for tuck shop so they didn't really make owt cos they also bought things for activities, I suppose they bought for the kids when they had these sort of offers. I work in a big outlet store and a lady with a market and ebay shop comes in regularly when clearance is on and buys 109s of things you know she's clearly reselling cos of the bulk amount of the items... Shop doesn't mind cos its getting the items off their hands at price they are happy to sell at anyway.

Because Booker (who owns Makro) and Costco are not always cheaper despite buying in bulk.

Not hard to understand.
