Why won't your doctors surgery or the hospital your DD is under take them?

Our grandson has some issues and ds’s council have allowed him to leave out extra as a special condition so would ask and hopefully they will be fine about taking the additional waste.

Our local council have now started to collect the yellow sharp bins separately
Prior to that we could hand them in at our GP surgeries or pharmacies Our council provide either an extra wheelie bin or stickers to go on black bin bags containing extra non clinical waste from medical supplies so they can be collected with usual household waste Maybe worth looking at council website to see what help they can give with disposing of medical waste Edited at 11:03 PM. Reason: Addition |

We used to drop our sharps box off at the local hospital. Can you not do that?

From Diabetes UK:
How do I replace my sharps bin? As sharps are classed as clinical waste, special arrangements need to be made for their disposal, which can vary from area to area. You may be able to return your sharps bin to your GP surgery or chemist, with some free collection services run. If you have diabetes, you can ask your local council to collect your sharps bin, although some may charge a fee for providing this service.

After I had my c section I had a bin full of needles to get rid of. The dr’s wouldn’t take them, neither would the maternity unit. I had to ring our local council who have a company that come and collect free of charge. They are called Medisort. I had to fill out a form then book a collection. Bit of a faff but no other option.
