I've just logged in to my booking on DFCH to check my price and I just noticed my payment is due TOMORROW! I've not had a reminder or anything!

Thank goodness for this thread!

We checked a few sites and Costco were cheaper for our dates. Will keep an eye on this though until nearer our departure date.

Update to Costco Car Hire

After reading what fellow Dibbers had to say about Costco, I began to have second thoughts. I telephoned Costco Car Hire to enquire about any extra to be paid on arrival and discovered that insurance was not included in the cost. I have since cancelled and got what I think is a good deal through Netflights. £408 for Hyundia Santa Fe which includes insurance and extra driver. Dates of trip 30 August to 13 September.

Do you recall what was not included that made you cancel?

Quite a few on here use Costco. As long as you use the UK website everything is included as I have researched it.

Your Costco member discount
All taxes and fees
Additional driver
Unlimited mileage
Loss damage waiver
Liability insurance supplement

Each of the above 'opens up' and explains in more detail. Namely under taxes and fees it shows that the airport user fee etc is included.

Cars tend to be from Hertz and Enterprise.

Thanks TM. I’ve booked with Hertz via Costco and although I’ve read the terms they aren’t as clear as where they are spelled out explicitly like some UK rental places.

For example, is there any excess liable in the even of an accident?

What about an accident with an uninsured motorist? Elsewhere I see this specifically stated but it seems to be part of LDW with Hertz.

The taxes and fees all seem fine. It’s more the level of cover that is bothering me.

All of the companies push UMP - Uninsured Motorist Protection.

I dont take it as it's not my car so my view is it's down to Alamo or whoever. No excess paybale in the States.
