Mobile Magic bands

Hi all,

Could someone please shine some light on what these magic bands are/do.

The last time we went we only had cards to access the theme parks and I’ve seen these magic bands. My first thought was if you stayed in a Disney resort you got a band which included your theme park access and snack tokens etc.

But I am aware you can purchase them. If I was to buy would this benefit me in any way or is it more for cosmetic purposes?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Danny

This should cover most (of not all) of what you need to know

IMO - if you are not staying onsite, they are a 'nice to have' not compulsory. We did a one night stay in a budget WDW hotel just to get magic bands and a couple of free days parking in 2014, but it's up to you.

We stay offsite, but bought magicbands last trip and will do again next month (I like the sound of 'next month' )

They're really easy to use, save you having to keep digging for your tickets when you enter the park or use a fastpass, and are great for when you use photpass with a photographer or on a ride
