I believe that since US citizens are now also required to cruise with passports (depending where they were going in some cases they didn't need to before) they introduced a new system of immigration aboard the Disney ships; whereby us 'aliens' no longer have this early start to get our passports back - everyone checks through immigration in the terminal building, when they are off they ship, and we all get to keep our passports through out the cruise (previously these were held by Disney if you were a non US citizen).
Officially, this new system is still 'on trial', but there does not appear to be any re-introduction of the 'old system' planned in the near future at least.

We had to do the 6am immigration thing back in Feb 2007, it was the only bad bit of the cruise so here's hoping they don't revert back to it!
Our then 20 month old was not amused at being dragged out so early & I don't think the immigration guys were too happy either judging by how unfriendly they were!

I hope the 6am immigration/passport retrieval has been stopped - suit me fine! Yes it was in February last year like one of the other dibbers mentioned previously

yes, as Judy says now that US citizens have to ahve passports they've waived all this for us poor 'aliens' Hope it stays that way as I never liked that very early start!
