Do We Tell Ds?
Hi everyone,
We are booked to go on our first cruise next year, but have a bit of a dilemma, Do we tell our 6 year old son or keep it as a surprise? All thoughts and opinions appreciated. |

How exciting. I would keep it as a surprise. It will be hard work, but to see his face will be well worth it!

I would keep it quiet for as long as possible. We booked our Orlando trip a month ago and told our kids straight away - we couldn't keep it quiet. My 9 year old DS feels like it's a lifetime away - when it's actually less than 5 months. So I can just imagine how he'd be if it was a year away!

I like to tell our kids as I feel that the excitement of the thought of the holiday is as much important as the actual holiday itself. If I'm being honest keeping a holiday a surprise would be for my benefit only so that I could see their faces! I do plan surprises whilst we're away but love the excitement and build up to the event

We used to take a bit of stick from the outlaws because we always told our DDs when we'd booked to go...we thought it was good for them to have something to look forward to in the future and save some pocket money/birthday money etc to spend (not that we didn't have to add to it ) Working towards things in the future, including holidays, is an important lesson for life...now getting all philosophical!
In the end its down to personal choice and knowing how your children will react I guess. |

Surprise him and do what Leanne did with her boys ~ take photos and capture the moment! Brilliant
