So, you would pay £200 deposit AND the full rental amount only IF you have'nt already paid the rental in full prior to picking up your car, I would imagine, if I am correct this will only affect a small number of British tourists? am I correct?

If you have a prepaid voucher then once you present this to Avis then you have paid for your car so you would only have the £200 against your card.
