BA Boomerang First Leg dropped by BA!

Heads-up to all boomerang flyers:

We were booked on a BA CW Boomerang DUB-LGW, LGW-MCO, MCO-LGW, LHR-DUB for August. BA changed the departure time of our first flight (DUB-LGW) by 3hrs, I called to change and was told that as it was changed by more than 3hrs I could choose a different flight, or drop that leg completely for free! We are now doing a non-boomerang flight for boomerang price. Happy days!

Although this is good news for OP, just to clarify, I suspect BA did not change the flight as they do not operate DUB/LGW, rather it would have been an EI flight, even if BA codeshare.

No, we're supposed to still get the last leg back to DUB... but we have 'missed' it on all previous boomerangs (contrary to what you'll read on here, BA don't send the boys around to break your legs). If questioned (and you won't be) all you need to say it there was a family emergency, and your plans changed.

Spot-on, Aer Lingus flight, not sure who or why it was changed, but crucially it was 3hrs, which meant we called the shots re-booking/cancelling it.

do they forward your luggage on to the next flight or do you collect it yourself?

I would check that you won't be charged for the APD now as I can't see BA paying it for you and technically you paying it hasn't put up the price as it's a government tax not a BA requirement.

You make sure you fly out of a different airport for the last leg so that you collect your luggage i.e. MCO-LGW then LHR-DUB

100% no additional charge. If there's a difference in APD than BA will have to pick it up as they were the ones who could not honour my original booking
