That’s the thing. I had both my kids in the same hospital. Both were c-sections and my youngest who was exclusively breastfeed lost 10% of her weight. They put me on a management plan which meant they got me in and made me feed her while watching then after she was done they put me on a massive express machine and checked both boobs for milk flow then let us home with the midwife coming the next day or every two days until she had gained.

This was only 4.5 year ago. Either they have changed how they do things or I personally think they are keeping them in cos they cause the head injury

They may be more cautious with him because of his injury, but it also may be that it’s a better option at the moment coronavirus around rather than getting them to go back in again every day.

Update

Alfie is coming home today!
He has put on a little weight. He has tongue tie to not feeding well and they are now having to bottle top up which sil feels a bit crap about. But it’s good news.
She was frustrated yesterday as the doctor said they could go home but the nurses said they couldn’t otherwise they would have been out yesterday.

So glad it’s all looking up though. It’s been a tough 11 days for them.

Darling little boy. What wonderful news.

Please tell your SIL not to worry about having to top up. We also had to due to severe tongue tie (rectified in month 2). I ended up expressing to top up with breast milk but also used formula regularly. Whatever works for them as a whole family is the best thing.
