I used to get lots of uti's, had loads of courses of antibiotics, then I started taking cranberry capsules (found the juice not strong enough) now at the first sign of a burn I take 2 x capsules a day till the symptoms have gone, then take 1 a day for at least 2 weeks.
If symptoms have not subsided after 3 days you must go to the doctors as it could be something else, or it can make its way up to your kidneys. After 2 courses of antibiotics she really needs to get checked, but the capsules might help in the mean time |

I don’t think waiting till Friday is acceptable
It might just be something like she’s resistant to the antibiotics she’s been prescribed so needs a different kind or a longer course 3 day courses have never worked for me , I’ve always needed 7 day courses But only a sample being tested will show what she needs and as someone else has said it could be another week before results are known . |

I don't mind putting it on here it's important. She had bloating and her stomach looked wonky, she also lost a lot of weight but that was just before diagnosis. The problem was my mother was a bit of a hypochondriac so I am afraid we didn't take it too seriously or do our own research.

I can’t believe they are making her wait until Friday that is awful.
I have had one UTI in my life, I tried to deal with it myself by drinking lots, but after I think 4/5 days I was crying in agony and passing blood because I was never off the toilet even though there wasn’t a drop left in my bladder (writing this has made me cringe with the memory). I actually ended up having to go to the walk in centre because it got that bad and I couldn’t wait for a doctor. Is there a walk in centre she could go to? |

If you call 111 you normally get a same day appt for uti symptoms. I agree with above Friday is a long time to wait

I’ve just come back to work after having a UTI since 24th October - I’ve had loads of them over the years .
If the if the anti- biotics havent worked the Cranberry juice etc is unlikely to .To ease any discomfort I would suggest a teaspoon of bi carbonate of soda in 1 pint of water and to drink almost constantly the bi carb is vile but will neutralise acidity - to wait until Friday is unacceptable because it’s very painful. Keep an eye on her temperature and if it’s very high call you local out of hours service it can become very nasty and she clearly hadn’t had the correct anti I hope she’s better soon . |

The fact that your mum has lost a lot of weight, i assume without dieting would be a red flag to me. Definitely needs to see a doctor and tell them she has lost weight , bloating and constant UTI. Please go to a walk in centre.
