Pedant alert! What nationality are you?

We're often asked where we're from and I always answer England, OH answers U.K. Both are, technically, correct. However, on the flight over we fill out the blue forms and it asks Nationality. We put U.K. but that's not correct is it? U.K. isn't a nationality. A friend of mine put British when she flew to LA and was sent away from the desk to complete a new form with U.K. in place of British. She wasn't going to argue the point, she just filled out a new form and rejoined the back of the queue. I've never flown anywhere else so I'm not sure if this is the norm wherever you go?

We all put English because that's our nationality. If we were from wales we would put Welsh. Uk is not a nationality same as Europe isn't , it's a geographical area. Hope this helps.

I would have said we are British and once we no longer need to have the European Union on our passports it will revert to saying British Passport.

I generally think of myself as British first and English/Welsh/Scottish second. A bit like being American rather than Californian. Although I do know it's not strictly the same thing.

Can't think why they'd want UK rather than British.

You might do soon . British isn't incorrect but some people prefer to use their country which isn't wrong either. United Kingdom is though.
