2019 Banked Points

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone else had 2019 banked points to use this year?

We've ended up having 3 trips cancelled.
We've booked a little getaway for the 2 of us Nov/dec to try and use the points as our longer family trip is now going to be in April.

We've been told that they can't do anything about our 2019 points.
We can't stay for any longer in Nov/Dec as we are leaving the kids home and we've even booked larger accommodation to try and not waste the points but it looks like we are still going to loose 60.

I was expecting to receive a little more help as it's obviously not our fault that our trips have been cancelled and there was so much talk of points being carried over, but not in our case apparently as these are 2019 points.

We are still new to this, so wondering if this sounds right to anyone that understands it better than we do?

I haven’t been able to bring myself to cancel my booking yet but I will in the next day or two.

We used 2019 banked points and 2020 points as it was a special trip.

I spoke to Member Services a few weeks ago to see were I stood on this as we have an April use year and I had read that April and June use year were being allowed to carry the points over to next year. Turns out this was only for banked points expiring this April or June.

I asked what would happen if the borders were closed and we couldn’t get into America? They said we would still lose the points

So I am not 100% sure but I think I can cancel and then bank my 2020 points, then keep 62 of my 2019 points as I will be trying to book for our daughters Honeymoon starting 30th March, so two days used from the 2019 points. The rest of 2019 I think I could put into RCI, the points have to go over in tens, or try to rent them out.

The renting points out would probably be best but never having done this I am concerned about this.

You can always rent them out so you can get something for them.

For April and June use years 2019 points were being rolled Over to expire in May 2021, that was the last I read, unless this has changed?

Its fairly easy. You find some who is wanting to rent you see if you can book, you book and they pay you, basically that's it. We have rented some or ours to Dibb members but other do use rental companies who do take a small cut.

Yes this is correct, we have June use year and have them rolled over until May 2021.

I rented out my 200+ banked 2019 points over the past 2 days. I put them on for $15 pp and used one of the US boards as the Americans are more likely to go in the next 6 months. Rented them in 24 hours, pretty straight forward and all for trips in June/ July. I advised no refunds but I would do my best tomove the reservation if Disney was closed. If you needed any assistance I can point you in the right direction.
