On-site Split Stay - Would you recommend?
Like many of us, I had a free dining stay booked for later this year. Even though there are only 2 of us, meaning the 35% discount could work for us, the travel uncertainty and mask guidelines (having been in September before I can’t imagine how hot it will make you), means we are likely to reschedule.
As 2021 prices are currently without discount, replicating a 2 week stay at AKL would be over budget. I’d appreciate any opinion on split stays, especially how it works at the planning stage. Obviously this will probably be different post COVID! It would be great to fit in a deluxe resort, even if it’s not for the full 2 weeks Thanks in advance |

Weve done it before by doing a week at SSR with free dining (ah the good old days) then a week at Bay Lake Tower on DVC points. We moved our own luggage but I'm sure they would do it for you. All of our fp opened up at 60 days of the SSR check in for the full 2 weeks but I wasnt sure if that would happen. Maybe look at renting dvc points? Although if (like me) you're hoping for some form of offer to come out for 2021 maybe hold off on that.

If there is no free dining in 2021 a split stay is a good way to experience a couple of resorts. It doesn’t really mean anything at the planning stage, other than you If you are booking directly it is two bookings and two deposits.

Hi. I’m also interested in this. So if, for example, I did 9 nights Pop and then 5 nights AK lodge, would I get Fastpass 60 +10 then an extra day rolling (as if I had 14 at Pop) or would my 60 start again from the beginning of my AK stay? 🤔 Hope that makes sense!

We did a split stay last time. We stayed at GF for 10 nights with Free DDP and as it was Summer holidays and our kids had a couple of extra Inset days it was cheaper to move to a moderate CBR and fly home on the Monday when most schools returned. Its easy to do as they will move your luggage for you. We just packed everything up but took our passports and cash etc with us called bell services and told them where we were moving to and they took care of it. Did a day in EPCOT then went to CBR and I had already done check in so knew what room and just rang bell services to arrange delivery of our bags. Best thing was the kids diddnt know they thought we were flying home had to pretend i had cocked up and we had got on the wrong bus.
Im sure as it was a seperate reservation it was 60 days before I could book FP. |
