It’s over the other side of the room to the sink though and we know the previous owners put the kitchen in so the tank came after the floor and cabinets were in.

There are two large tanks in the lower cupboards.
maybe they collect the RO water in a plastic jerry can and transfer to storage

the two tanks underneath most likely one is the sump for heater/filter/skimmer etc the other an RO reservoir

fwiw are they leaving the tanks? there is a good few ££ worth there , impossible to see whats in the tank as well but could also be ££.. assuming you dont want to take i on

Yes they’re leaving the tanks.

We won’t be keeping them but no idea how to go about getting rid of it.

I’m hoping they take the fish out as we’re unsure why they haven’t already moved them.

The tank is between two rooms in what used to be a doorway. We want to put a stud wall in its place, hopefully that’s not too big a job.

We got rid of our marine tank several years ago. It was costing us around £200 a month in electricity alone, we had lighting that mimicked sunrise and sunset, a pump system that produced small waves using 4 swimming pool pumps, heating and various other bits and pieces. All this was linked by pipes and cables to an outdoor shed where we produced our RO water. Not a cheap hobby! Now we've just got a small tropical fish tank in the kitchen.

Wow we don’t want those kind of costs.

I’m not really a fan of fish - unless eating them 😋

There will be ££££ there in fish alone, never mind the hardware. Is the condition of the tank being monitored by anyone?

there is a few 100 ££ in fish stock alone in their.. surely they havnt just left them ? no one feeding / maintaining the tank?

if they do leave the tank etc etc then worth checking local facebook group for marine hobbyists / aka reefers & see if anyone want to take a look and maybe take off your hands but get an honest valuation as all this kit is surprisingly expensive... that display tank is huge & will be expensive thick glass, quite possibly even more expensive low iron glass

EDIT

also worth asking on ultimatereef.net a marine forum

They moved out last week and as far as we’re aware they’re not returning.

No idea if the tank is being monitored at all or the fish being feed etc 🤷

It’s very strange, when we got there today the heating is still on and the swimming pool is still being heated to 32 degrees 😱. It must be really racking up some high energy costs.

Hi

That is not a ro filter it is a simple sediment filter with a chiller attached so probably just a chilled drinking water a ro filter will have back washing and 2-3 other canisters with it. A marine setup with modern led lights will cost only £20-30 a month to run as i used to have a 6 ft marine setup

when do you move in as you could arrive to a rather pungent smelling house if that tank crashes & fish/corals die...

i had a 90L tank crash when on holiday the smell was horrific

in all seriousness though this is animal abuse & need to check this out... imagine if someone just abandoned a dog/cat when they moved house... its the same thing
