The latest Mavic Mini (it’s just called that I think but make sure you get version 2 just out as that has a much better 4K camera). It’s brilliant from what I’ve seen and crucially under the weight where you have to go through all the rigmarole of registering it etc. Want one myself eventually.

And although do we groups say you ca fly them in say central london you cant legally, except in very small areas and under restrictions else they will be brought down and confiscated. They are are becoming a real pain to LFB apparently - there is now a small space on Richmond Park they are allowed so if they are t be used in built up areas it best to check thoroughly where they can be used

its not a mavic mini, its just a standard DJI model

and just to clear up any confusion, they are both made by DJI, so youve got

DJI MAVIC MINI - great drone, 1080p camera. been out around a year
and then the new (ie released about a month ago)
DJI MINI 2 - very similar spec to the dji mavic mini, but with a 4k camera and about £100 more expensive

Yes the Mini 2 is what I was referring to, it’s the Mavic Mini 2 but you are correct they took the Mavic bit out of the name and just called it the Mini 2. That is the drone to buy! Very impressive. I saw a guy on YouTube fly it 6km away in the US.

If in budget I would probably buy the ‘Fly More’ combo as it is well worth the extra £150.

I know this was posted earlier but it is very important any potential drone owners* read this.

This doesn’t apply to Mini 2

Thanks all. Have suggested the Mini 2 and going to try and push the budget to include the fly more combo. He literally wants it to take pictures of his building work which is houses and patios etc, but will make him aware about insurance and the drone code. Will definitely keep an eye out for the black friday offer. Thanks everyone for the time to respond. Really appreciate it

DJI's insurance thing also seems like a no-brainer to me... it's around £30 a year, but if the drone gets damaged/lost, it gets replaced!
