Take it off, sand it down nicely, repair anything that's broken, then stain and re varnish. Job done.
I have stained a few toilet seats in my time too

Why don't they put it up?

Is the toilet hexagonal or just the seat. If the toilet bowl isn’t hexagonal the another seat would fit

The wood on the underside has swollen if you see what I mean.

It would probably be cheaper to replace the whole toilet in all honesty. I couldn't enjoy sitting on a £200 seat, not the amount we replace them in our house xx

What I didn't notice was the wooden toilet seat was octaganol. Well I did notice but just thought how attractive it looked. It now needs replacing. I can only find one company that sells them and they want just under £200 for it! This seems excessive to me although it looks like I have no choice but to go for it! Unless any of you lovely people have any suggestions or indeed want to make me feel better by saying it's not a lot of money for a toilet seat!
Been a while since I needed to replace a loo seat myself, but when Prescott got his replaced it cost about £115 and that was 14 years ago; so I could beleive that £200 isn't beyond the realms of possibility

From the Guardian

"In September 2006, he was reimbursed for a £112.52 repair bill which included 'refit WC seat'. "

The cheapest octagonal wooden seat I see on a very quick google is £156

I cannot see any octagonal ones on Amazon, although admittedly I only went through the first three pages. I thought I found one for £150 which is a bit better but once I added on fittings it was £192 so probably the one you had found already OP.

I can't get my head around an "attractive" toilet seat as it says on the link!

Anyway good luck in finding one that suits, hopefully cheaper than £157!

Must say have enjoyed all the DIY threads on here recently, some great posts. (Stops me looking at Covid and Politics and easing our way back into HOLIDAY threads!)
