Did you pay for the deposit with credit card by any chance? If so and the money is not forthcoming then you could speak to your credit card company about a charge back.

Fingers crossed the owner returns your deposit and that isn't necessary of course.

Sadly not.

We paid by cheque,so it's coming back( ! ) by cheque.

No reason for it to have to come back by cheque we often return by bank transfer even if the guest has paid by cheque.

It really should have been here by now it would appear this owner is stalling. a security bond is not our money it is just that a bond. As soon as everything has checked out fine it should be returned to the guests toot sweet!

We don't even take the bond at the same time as the balance 2 weeks prior to arrival is plenty. We do bank it (not much point taking it if we didn't) and return it asap so in reality the money should be tied up for no longer than a month.

I would now be phoning and telling them you want it paid into your bank by bank transfer. I can transfer immediate from my bank so they should be able to do the same. This is the sort of thing that gets the rest of us a bad name - makes me mad!

I hope you have good news through the post today. As others have said this has taken far too long to be returned. It isn't their money, its a security deposit.
