Hotel recommendations near Universal LA
Hi, my itinerary is sorted and we have four days planned in LA for end of August/beginning of September. Only one of those will be at Universal Studios, however we like the idea of being close to CityWalk. I had my heart set on staying at the Hilton Universal City, however it's well over budget (which is around £800 for four nights). Can anyone recommend a good alternative that's nearby? Or an alternative that's close to restaurants/bars/shops so we don't near the car? Thank you.

We stayed at the Sheraton Universal City and that is just a bit further down the hill from the Hilton. Free shuttles, but easily walkable. Not sure of the cost for your dates though. Great location as just down the road is the station to go straight into LA for the tourist sights.

Those are really the only two which are very close.
You have some non chain hotels the other side of the freeway on Ventura Blvd. These are still in the £160-170 per night range in peak UK holiday season. Lots choose either places like Burbank or Hollywood because of the lack of hotels onsite. |

We have booked the Hilton for this summer but it was steep, £700 for 3 nights.

Thanks, I looked at the Sheraton too but it's even more expensive than the Hilton!
I don't know whether to just bite the bullet and pay the extra... any other ideas welcome, thank you. |

How many days are you doing at Universal?
If it's only one then the parking cost will be much lower than the difference in price of hotels. I would stay elsewhere and just drive in and park. There isn't that much there really other than eating and the cinema. |

Thank you, I'd seen that previously and had it in mind. I had another look at it today and it ticks most of our boxes so I've gone for that instead. Managed to get four nights for £811 which is on budget. Super excited now as all our hotels are booked! Thanks Dibbers for all your help and advice!
