Things outside of main attractions in Florida

Hi next year we want to do more than just Disney and Universal etc. We are staying in Orlando buit would consider an overnight stay elsewhere.
So far we have
Anna Maria island
St Augustine
Blue Springs State park.

Any other ideas excluding the Keys and Everglades

Thanks

Bok Tower Gardens is beautiful and also interesting - maybe not a whole day thing but definitely half a day.

Another vote for Bok Tower and a boat trip at Winter Park. Celebration is also nice for a wander.

Bok Tower, lovely half day visit. Blue Springs State Park especially in Manatee season. Mount Dora, lovely town and marina to visit. Train rides and Pontoon boat rides available on Lake Dora. If you want some natural Florida, Lake Louisa State Park on the US27 near Clermont is good. Old Town Kissimmee Friday or Saturday Nite Cruise's, lots of classic, muscle and hot rods especially on the Saturday.

Harry P Leu gardens north of Orlando are a great way to spend a day, any of the state parks - one of our faves is De Leon Springs as we like a boat ride and cooking our own pancakes at the Sugar Mill Restaurant. Claremont there is Lakeridge winery who do free tours and tastings, The Orange Tower at Clermont (has a lift to the top) and fabulous views on a clear day.

Port Richey north of Tampa, sunset landings marina, hire a pontoon boat and visit the islands off the coast, saw sharks, turtles, rays, dolphins (swan alongside/around us), probably the best 4 hours we have spent in Florida
