Experience booking seats with BA
I'm just about to book our seats for our LHR-MIA & return flights, but I'm just wondering what other people's experiences are with them. I've noticed a few threads lately about people being moved after pre-booking seats etc. It's going to cost the best part of £300 to book both ways, and I'm loathed to spend that if they're likely to bump us.
We're on the A380 and wanting to book upstairs for both flights. Two pairs on window seats outbound and a row of 4 aisle seats inbound. I know no seat is guaranteed but just wondering how often BA move people who have pre booked? |

When you say a row of 4 aisle seats, is that one in front of the other? How many seats in the row?
The only reason I can see airlines moving people is if their seat choice is restricting other groups from being sat together (ie booking window & aisle in a 3 seat row, all window seats etc). Also, row 1 can be a gamble if there is someone who needs special assistance on your flight. |

Thanks for replying. Sorry, that wasn't worded very well...I mean a row of 4 across the middle, not 4 individual aisle seats.
Hopefully we should be ok with our choices then, neither are at the front and as the upstairs is 2 4 2, there won't be empty seats next to us. |

If you do get "bumped" from your chosen seats (usually if a substitute aircraft is being used) then the money you have paid will be refunded. In my case the refund was done automatically.

We've only been moved from our pre booked seats once (5-6 flights a year with BA) and that was due to an aircraft change.
BA automatically moved us into equivalent seats, an aisle & window in the front row; we can pre-book our seats for free. Edited at 05:59 PM. |
