Changing dates

So Air France cancelled our flights, but changed them to a day earlier. I rang Disney Travel Company to see if i could move My booking a day earlier. Yes you can but lose all the offers you had. So I cancelled. Why would they prefer cancellation over moving 1 day earlier? I know it wasn�t them that changed the flights but wouldn�t it make more sense for them to have kept my booking - 2 rooms? They had the availability

Air france have cancelled a lot of scottish flights. English flights have moved to charter for a few routes.
