Dumb question - best way to use the $200 Disney gift card?
Last 2 times we simply used the card near the end of our stay to clear our balance (having put any meals and shopping on our bands) - I understand now that Disney take any money charged to your room on a regular basis so that wont work.
Any issues with putting the gift card on our room on day 2? This way we will be $200 in credit and eat into that. And/or, if we use the card for breakfast in Crystal Palace can we pay on that and then have (for example) $50 left on it to spend in stores? |

I'm also curious if we can do this...
I'll be honest... we use ours for booze and tips. |

We got ours put on our room on Day 1 so it was there ready to clear any purchases rather than on the last day.

If you add the gift cards to account at check-in, can you then keep a check on what you have purchased on MDE account ?
Also will it show what your remaining balance is ? |

The card can be used in most non-Disney stores at Disney Springs, Mrs got some stuff at Sephora and DD in Uniqlo so pretty flexible.

Interesting - is there a list of what stores accept this?

I didn’t think you could add it to your account to create a positive balance? If you can that’s what we’d probably do. Normally we just wait until the end of the holiday and use the gift card towards the balance but the new charging policy makes that difficult.

Always give mine to my daughter. Very straightforward it’s like it never existed 🙄

Not managed to find a list, the guy who issued our card said pretty much all of the shops took them but that it was best to ask. the 2 I mentioned did as well as a place that sold bath bombs, Basin? said they did but we didn't buy anything there in the end, pretty sure Ugg did too. I had my eye on a Lacoste t shirt, heavily reduced but the girls had spent it before i got the chance

In order to charge things to your room, you need to provide a credit or debit card. You don't have to use that credit/debit card to pay off the balance but you do need to provide one. You can still use the $200 gift card to pay off your room account balance. You can do this whenever you want - either every few days or all at once (assuming the room charges total no more $200, of course - otherwise you'll also need to provide some additional payment).
What Disney now does is put a hold on your credit/debit card for how much has been charged to your room plus a bit more ($100 more, I think?). Your card is not charged at this point. As already mentioned, you can use another payment method to pay of the balance.
