Phone Chargers in hand luggage

Does any one know if you have to carry your chargers in your hand luggage for Kindles, Nintendo DS, Ipods, mobile phones. I know you have to show they work at security, but will you need to plug them in?

Worth carrying just in case the phone etc loses all power before security. My iPad has done this a couple of times. The charger would then be very useful!

Hi Sally - I've never yet been asked to remove/show/turn on our Nook, computers or i-player, I charge them afore we go and put the chargers in our hold luggage. I've never carried a charger in our hand luggage.

But if your hold luggage is delayed, or worse, you may be glad to have your chargers in your hand baggage.

In recent years I haven't had to show that my devices turn on at security, though I always keep them charged just in case!

But I do carry chargers for most things in my hand luggage (mainly for iPhone/iPad, Kindle, laptop), just in case I end up being separated from my check in bags. This is following a friend's experience where her check in bags were lost and she therefore couldn't use any of her electronic devices for days until she was reunited with her check in bags...

I had a bag that went missing for 12 days always carry your chargers in your hand luggage, lesson learned and it is difficult to get the exact charger for camera/ camcorder.
It is all in hand luggage now and never a question asked - I dread to think what I would say

I bring ALL our electronics in hand luggage, cameras, phones, tablets, kindles and all charging cables, never asked to take them out across multiple trips

Our chargers always go in our hand luggage, in case of delays and gadgets loosing their charge before a flight, have neve been asked to get any of them out to show they are charged but i'd rather have the charger there just in case of a flat battery & we get asked. They are only small & don't take up any room.

I also put chargers in hand luggage in case the checked bag goes for a wander.

I too have never been asked to power stuff up, but wonder who on earth takes an entertainment device on a plane, where boredom is the enemy and doesn't take it full of charge. We make a big song and dance over the last minute charging so we can use the things, not so we can show the airport staff they actually work.
