We spent a lovely day at Daytona- did tour at the Speedway, quick trip to mall then late afternoon/evening at baseball. If we had been up earlier we would have got to the beach too

Whetstones. It's out on king Street, next stop on the trolleys to the Winery Tour. Make an appointment if you want to tour the factory.

Certainly a trip up to Lake County/Mt Dora
We did the Land Sea and Air trip with Jones Bros. Tours - runs every weekend and cost us $93 each - for that you get a 90 min boat cruise on Lake Dora/Lake Dora Canal - drop off in Tavares - then a 15/20 min Seaplane ride to see the local area - then catch the Cannonball Express (train) to take you back to Mt Dora. Fabulous day out starting about 1 hour north of Orlando. Great views and good value - will be going up there again next year. http://www.thedibb.co.uk/postImages/...45ab815522.jpg http://www.thedibb.co.uk/postImages/...4e11e7c225.jpg |

We like Casperson Beach just south of Venice for fossilised shark tooth hunting.
We also like Anna Maria Island with the awesome white sand on the beaches. Nothing where I live (Cornwall) can compare with that sand!

Blue Springs and Juniper Springs are lovely - especially the swimming.
St Augustine - as others have said bit further away but great place to visit tampa - the aquarium, MOSI and Lowry Park Zoo are all worth a visit, as is a wander around downtown. St Petersburg - Pier area, downtown and if you are a book lover don't miss Haslams book store. Fort de Soto beach is just simply stunning and really relaxed. If you like antiques/collectibles/farmers markets then go visit the huge one at Webster on a Monday. If you like cycling, head to the gulf coast, hire a bike and cycle some of the Pinellas Bike trail before heading to Johns Pass for a recovery drink on the dock. |
