normally book Alamo, all car hire is off site but if you do the skip the counter, once you arrive at the car hire you just go and choose you vehicle. Just have your GPS set to direct you to your hotel, we use Google Maps on my 3 phone

We used Avis via BA fly drive. It's also off site with shuttle coach service.

Thank you, from memory I remember them being off site. Not great but I’ve struggled to find reliable transfers to Anaheim so we’ll have to get the car when we land.
Thanks again!

Always use Alamo. Frequent buses from right outside arrivals, short journey, then skip the line and you're away. Good choice of vehicles and the staff are nice too. Returning vehciles is painless, too.

We’ve gone with Alamo, much cheaper than the rest and we’ve always been happy with them in the past.

Trust me, you wouldn't want to pick up a car direct from LAX! Would really be throwing yourself into LA driving from the off! All offsite, all easy to get to and return, all much of a muchness so go with whatever works for you!

Thanks but I’ve driven in LA before so have been blessed to experience that sort of crazy already 😂, and in the US in excess of 20 times so definitely not worrying about the driving 😉 It was more to do with the fact we don’t actually need the car for the first few days but have struggled to find a reliable shuttle service to transport our family (it’s on the larger than average size) so have decided to pick up straight away but are now stuck with picking up at at the airport which is a pain as the car rental places are not on site.
Ideally I’d much rather not have the car for the first few days especially after arriving late but hey ho what can you do...
