Mobile Book Cruise first or WDW with Free Dining?

We will be first timers cruising. I’m trying to convince DH to add either 3 or 4 days tacked onto a WDW 17 nights in 2021. I am hoping to get free Dining. So what’s the best way to do this? When will Sep and Oct 2021 cruises be released? Should we book our free dining WDW stint first online?

Are there certain days the cruises run from Florida? And should we have the cruise first then the stay, or vice-versa, or in the middle? Surely in the middle it would disrupt the continuity of the park tickets and therefore we’d miss out days (as we’d be at sea). Ditto for the dining.

Any advice appreciated!

What we have done is book 11 nights at CSR and update the QSDP to DDP, then a 3 day cruise followed by a week at SSR by renting DVC points.

The three day cruise departs on a Friday returning on the Monday. The four day cruise departs on Monday returning on the Friday. This is on the Disney Dream from Port Canaveral and is in May this year.

You are right that if you take a cruise during your holiday the free dining would finish on your cruise departure day.

It's only DW and I and this will be our first Disney cruise to.

for our October/November trip last year we booked WDW when the free dining came out April 2018 & a 4 night Disney cruise when the itineraries were released May 2018.
We did the cruise at the end which worked well. Like you say doing it in the middle cost you days on your tickets and no free dining afterwards unless you bought new tickets.

Also the 3 day cruise from Port Canaveral (on the Disney Dream) is fri-mon for the 3 night or mon-fri for the 4 night.

When doing a short cruise we’ve always done four nights as three nights really isn’t long enough and it avoids the weekenders taking a break to party , however I can see that dipping out of WDW at a weekend when the parks are busier has merit too.
We’ve always cruised after the theme park part of a trip as some R&R after the madness of the parks though.
I’d definitely do it after not before the parks though.
September and October cruises are cheaper, as it’s hurricane season , it’s never stopped us cruising then but it does come with some risk that a cruise could be cancelled or the ports of call changed.
