Passport Advice

Hi All

I've just booked a bargain 5 night NY break for me and my daughter in Feb, but have a query about her passport.

When we were in the US in Nov, her passport got wet during a storm, so we dried it out when we got back to the hotel. The ID/photo page, chip and covers are completely unaffected, but there is some of that normal water damage warping at the top of each paper page, but they are not stuck together.

I am now wondering if this will cause a problem at US immigration, however there were no problems at check in or UK passport control when we returned on 2/11.

She still has 3 years left on this passport and with only 40 days til we travel, would prefer not to have to get a new one, but has anyone travelled with a passport in a similar condition.

Any advice appreciated.

Regards
Rob

My last one was a bit like that. I used a warm iron on each page, ironing thro a handkerchief . It really made a difference. But keep away for the main pages with your inf and the chip.

Thanks for the reply and advice, but thanks to my job, I was able to get a phone number for US Immigration at Shannon and spoke to a CBP officer. He said that it sounds fine, however if you get stood in front of the wrong person, they could be awkward and refuse entry, so I've bitten the bullet and have an appointment at Newport tomorrow.

I will still try you tip to see how it works out.

I think you've done the right thing! CBP are being pretty strict at the moment - I had to get my DD a new passport because hers went in a puddle on a student night out - after the grilling she got last time she went into the USA I'm glad we did.
