I saw somewhere that a person wrapped elf’s leg in cotton wool and told the kids he couldn’t move about, as he broke his leg coming from the North Pole!

We have done it a few years-
wrap the kids school shoes in tin foil..
Wrap the TV in loo roll
Tape up a doorway
Pinterest is your friend in this situation!

Over the past 8 years our elf has done all sorts. This year so far
Hidden in wreath
made drum kit
put up his tree
Brought a game - letter to Santa (highly recommend)
Got a wedgie!
Hidden in amongst soft toys
Made nights and crosses game with marshmallows

Good luck. I make a spread sheet and prepare props in November.

We also have a door but ours has led lights, I have them connected on a remote control and when the lights come on its time for bed! Works a treat with DD

Ours isn’t a naughty elf, as the reason she visits is to help Santa check that the girls are being good*. My youngest would definitely question why the elf got to do naughty things, but still expect her to be good!

Ours has written a Christmas message in chalk while hanging upside down from the top of the easel, sat in / on lots of toys, and is currently at the top of the Christmas tree. She’ll be reading a story to a group of tiny toys tonight, having a toy food picnic with them another night, peep over the top of a photo on the bookshelf another night (no drawing on the photos in this house!), climb out of a drawer one night, perch on a window frame, hide behind a Santa figurine, etc - just generally exploring the house and toys each night.

I like the idea of having the elf make a Christmassy Lego build one night - definitely stealing that!

*i.e. I can’t be doing with having to clean up around an elf that we’re not allowed to touch every day 🤪

My Daughter for her children had both of them hanging off the spotlights in the kitchen ceiling (held on with blu tack) and holding a sign saying 'help'

ETA: we always put our elf back on his swing each morning that hangs from our ceiling light. My DH was eating yougurt right under the elf yestery morning and the cheeky elf dropped himself right into the bowl of yougurt yesterday 😂 it was really funny!
That is a funny story 🤣😂 maybe he was hungry lol. Thanks so much for all the fab ideas.
