Have you considered the AMTRAC? It is very scenic, rather spacious and covers Boston, NY, DC and Philly with a few other stops in between. It has certainly served us well over the years.

There are a couple of images of it on the second of the trip reports in my signature, when we did Boston-NY.

We used Amtrac from New York down to Boston a couple of years ago and would definitely recommend it. It was also relatively cheap.

In September we did a trip starting in Boston (3 days), Amtrak down to NY (4 days) and then flew to Orlando on Delta (8 days).
The Amtrak was excellent, we took the business class commuter train. It was clean, comfy and spacious. We'd be happy to do that again.
