Edinburgh
We have booked a few days in Edinburgh next months for my husband’s birthday. We will be there with our 7 year old too. Could anyone recommend a restaurant for his birthday night? We aren’t fussy eaters but don’t want anything too formal where a child wouldn’t be welcome. Thanks x

I used to live in Edinburgh, so I have to recommend my old workplace, Hard Rock Cafe, on Georges Street

I was in Edinburgh in May for the marathon festival with friends. I did a post looking for restaurant ideas so might be worth looking that up? After much consideration we went to Vittoria on the Bridge, an Italian restaurant, and had a lovely meal.

We found a lovely place Yeni Meze where you could have lots of little dishes and was great for me as gluten-free. We had to book in advance.

I had a few nights there in October for my hubby’s birthday with the children too.
Id recommend Kyloe Steakhouse and also Hard Rock Cafe.

We live just outside Edinburgh, loads to choose from...
This Brazilian restaurant would be good if everyone likes their meat... they cut and serve at the table, not too fancy and not too expensive at all - great for a birthday treat great food and nice setting, its in George Street which is just behind the main shopping street - Princes St fazenda/ |

If you’re looking for something non-chain, there’s Tom Kitchin’s gastropub scranandscallie/. It has a kids menu I think, it’s not bang in the centre but easy bus or taxi.

Tom Kitchin has another place in Bruntsfield called south side scran now also.
La Favorita is the slightly more casual sister restaurant of Vittoria and imo is much better. |
