Daytona Beach
Hi all, my DH who never gets involved in the planning wants to visit Daytona Beach but I’m not sure as I know there are nicer beaches, we’ve done Clearwater before but for some reason he is set on Daytona Beach, I’d like to know peoples opinions on it, thanks😀

It's a nice beach but we found Daytona quite rough. You could park on the beach though which was a pretty cool thing to so (this was 2007 so may have changed)

I've been to both and liked both beaches, however I do prefer Clearwater beach. Daytona is flat sand and a rougher sea where as Clearwater is white, fluffy sand and warm calmer sea like bath water. Obviously Clear water may be rougher if theres been a storm, and also be careful if red tide we was there for 3 weeks last year and visited Fort Myere, Anna Maria Island, Clear water and St Pete's and they all had red tide! It really put a dampener on the holiday. We have been previously and never heard of red tide until that year and it looks like it is all clear at the moment out there.

We've been to Daytona and Clearwater quite a few times, last time we went to Daytona was 2017 and we won't be back. Too many transients/homeless? (according to the signs they held) actively looking for cash. They were all along the full length of the pier at Daytona.

Daytona beach is not as nice as the west coast beaches. Strong currents, lower sea temperatures and the surrounding areas are a bit rough ( drug dealers in McDonald’s etc!).
Also lots of gun shops! |
