Under £600 with a 7 seater for two weeks October next year with Virgin Holidays - people overlook them but that's who we've booked with every year. Great prices when you need a bigger vehicle.

B) car hire - 7 seater , Ive just roughly priced up for Oct 18 and it’s coming in at a £1000 for 2 weeks is that normal ?
C) insurance - although a family I will have an 18 yr old and my mum (72) so would I need group insurance ? Mums always been added to ours before without problems but as we now have an 18 yrold hes no longer classed as a child. And what insurance do I need to ask for to make sure all elements are covered . Mum could have her own insurance but would ours let me stay with her if anything happened while out there?
D) best order to book it all in ? I can secure accommodation now and I know flights are best at 11 months ( is that when I get insurance sorted ?) , do you book the car after flights at 11 months ?
A I’ve never flown from Manchester, but for going in October I’d be looking in the Christmas flight sales. Also as suggested, BA fly drives can be good value too, you don’t need to pay for any extra insurance for the car hire part either.

B Yes £1000 seems expensive to me!

C Sorry, 8 don’t have any experience with this, we just have family insurance.

D I usually book flights, then find a villa, and lastly book the car if it isn’t a FlyDrive.

Hi there
a) We've booked August indirect for £421 PP (Man-Frankfurt-MCO). Others on here have said that it is relatively straightforward so long as there is adequate connection time. It suited us better than BA which involved a change of airports in London and the M25 which would have been more stressful for us
b) keep an eye on car hire brokers too (netflights) - I've had 7 seater car hire this year with a broker through thrifty for £360
c) I booked ins for me, DH and DS (17 but 18 when we travel) together and Mil age 72 separate as it was much cheaper for us that way. I've checked her ins. and it says someone can stay with her if anything happened if 'medically necessary'. Doesn't seem ideal but I'm not sure if policies vary on this point?
d) for us, flights then villa then car

Happy planning

Thank you all , all really helpful replies. I reckon I need to do some serious shopping around around Christmas time . Hopefully Black Friday and the sales will bring some good bargains.
I’ve never found the need to do diy as we’ve always found a great price anyway but this time need some flexibility as ds doesn’t know exactly if he will be coming and it’s hard to add him /remove from a package deal once booked.
