Money saving expert website has a bit about travel insurance, might be worth a read? My parents who are in their 80's and have health issues, got really good cover with AA last year that included a European cruise? I was surprised as hadn't ever checked them before? Not sure what they would be like for the US?

Unless you have certain medical conditions. What older person hasn't! My DH and I have medication for high blood pressure and cholesterol, both are covered without any additional premium. However, DH has had removed from his head a basal cell carcinoma, nothing frightening and it does not spread to other parts of the body. He also had a TIA and had his artery cleaned. He has had to pay additional premiums for both these things, although they do "fall off" eventually. It was only a couple of months ago that he had a letter saying that they wanted £250 to keep him covered if we were going away again. This is on top of the £17 per month we pay to the bank for the joy of the insurance (and to be fair a couple of other small benefits). However, glad to say that the £250 has also, fallen by the wayside.

We have a friend aged 79 also with a Lloyds Bank account. Because he had a stent inserted a few years ago, the insurance company will not insure him at all.
