Sorry if this is a stupid question - but how do you use the $200 credit to offset tips? I presumed that you get a seperate card - but is it linked to your magic band/MDE account? If so, why do I need to collect it from the virgin desk at the airport?

I am easily confused!

It's on a gift card, you can use it just like a debit card within Disney. When we went for meals using the DDP we would give them the card for the tip - or you can charge to your magic band and use the gift card to pay off the balance then

We charged all of our tips to our magicband (room) and then paid them off with the gift card making DDP completely free for us as we did not drink

What I can't understand is tipping on the price of the meal does the waiter do more work serving you a $50 steak than he does serving a $20 burger?

Yes - he should be bringing you a steak knife...

Its the same as if you buy a new car - the salesman doesn't do any more work if you buy bottom range model or top of range, but gets more commission.

As someone else mentioned, if I had a discount or voucher for a free meal at a restaurant (whether that is in the UK or anywhere else in the world) I would still tip because that server is still offering me the same service so it seems very unfair to decrease their pay because I got a free meal.

Regarding your point on different tips for different restaurants - that is the same everywhere - there arent set tips anywhere in the world, so people are always going to get different amounts.
Without getting into a debate about whether to tip or not, Florida law does state a minimum wage and if an employee does not make this level when their pay and tips are added together then it is the employers legal responsibility to make up the difference. So basically in this situation they would get paid the minimum wage directly by thier employer.

The signature restaurants have less turn over of tables so they serve fewer people? It's also seen as a more 'career' job to be a server in the prestige restaurants? I guess that makes a difference
