What's the least amount of time you would leave for a stopover?
I suppose it might depend on the stopover airport, at the moment Dublin is a possibility.

Depends on a lot of things.
Who is travelling? Young children will slow you down! Do you know where you are going at the airport? How big is the connecting airport? Connect somewhere like heathrow and you might literally have to walk miles to get your connection. Will you have to change terminal and go through security again. Im sure someone will post here soon to tell you about the sort of time you need to allow at Dublin. |

It would depend where , if I was clearing customs and immigration there , make up of party e.g. Kids or slower older adults, luggage type and amount .
Don't forget with Dublin you clear US immigration and customs there if flying direct to the US not on arrival. |

I prefer 2.5 to 3 hours. I also check to see if the airline I am flying with have more aircraft going to Orlando that day just incase I need the information. Check the airport map and know how you are going to get from one gate to the next.

I’ve done 90 minutes (Detroit) but I’d like 2+ hours in an ideal world.

Personally 3 hours but I like to know I have plenty of time. We had a choice of 2 flights from Glasgow to Dublin and I chose the earlier one giving us 6 hours in Dublin which I know is excessive but I’d rather just be there. The other flight would have given us 3 hours which I accept is probably sufficient.

We've booked our flights now, we've got 2h 20 mins in Dublin airport, both flights with Aer lingus in January so not the busiest season.
Hopefully will be ok

We had 45 minutes once, utter nightmare, do not recommend. it had originally been much longer but flight times changed to our disadvantage. We literally ran with a 9 and 6 year old between the 2 flights and we heard our names being called by the aircraft. We were the last passengers to board, no where for our hand luggage, but we made it. It probably took an hour into the flight before our heart rates returned to normal! Both my husband and I were left with back and shoulder injuries as in order to get there we had all the luggage! Now we can look back and laugh. X

It really depends but 3 hours is great if you have to go through customs.
We had a two hour stopover at JFK having to do customs and we just made our flight. However on the way back with no customs we were left waiting and 3/4 of a hour would have been fine. Just don't put pressure on yourself and worry about it beforehand. Maybe it's because I like airports (for some strange reason) I always think there is something to do Edited at 01:25 PM. |
