F150 Again :-)

So, this year we had booked a Standard SUV, although when you arrive at Alamo, their categories are always different to booking in the UK, so what they class as one, is generally not what you think, and you are fooled into upgrading costing a fortune, for me, part of my holiday is driving something a bit different, and last year I opted for the outlandish Ford F150 Crew Cab pickup, it was wonderful, loads of power, loads of space, the perfect vehicle for a family, and lift up seats in the rear, allowing for changing at the beach being an easy job with privacy glass.

This year as I headed down the Standard SUV line (Straight out of the doors at Sanford) I noticed several F150 and other pickup's in the same area, I expected to pickup something like the Ford Explorer, but as soon as I saw the pickup, it was game over... And this year I didn't have to pay $301 to upgrade, showing that either Alamo had totally screwed up parking, or that I had been totally ripped off last year.

Anyway, off we went in a low mileage 2017 6L V8 F150

This is the way to travel, I highly recommend a pickup, once you have got the race cars out of your system...

Alamo 7 Seater mini van

7 Seater mini van
Booked with Alamo (Alamo Brits)
Collected from MCO
Used skip the counter and managed to get a new Chrysler Pacifica (limited) which I believe was a top of the range model.

Very comfortable with loads of gadgets including remote engine start, remote opening passenger doors and boot. Sat nav and Nappa leather seats.

Place you picked the car up from:- Orlando International Airport
Catergory of car hired:-Full Size
Caregory of car supplied:- Cool Cars
Make of car you got:- Dodge Charger R/T
Hire car company used:- Avis (booked through BA)

I joined Avis Preferred after I had booked the car hire, in order to skip the line and just go right to collections in the garage.
I booked the full size which was quoted as 'Ford Fusion or similar'
I looked online to check out the 'or similar' list and spotted that one of the alternatives was Dodge Charger so I sent an e-mail requesting one if available, I got a non commital return e-mail within 24hrs saying that they'd noted my request but couldn't guarantee etc etc...

Pick up was really easy, less than 2 minutes from booth to car! Just swipe credit card and check license, and "there you go sir, your car is in T12"

At time of booking, this was £210 for the 10 day hire.
I was delighted to get a V8 as I was expecting the SXT model with the smaller engine not a 5.7l beast!

I had a lot of fun with this car, it sounds awesome when you press the loud pedal and when you choose sport mode, turn off traction control and use the paddle shifters - Oh BOY!

I did 599 miles and spent $70 on gas and averaged 18.0 miles per US gallon

Averaged around 29mpg on mostly around town driving, 307 miles on 1 1/4 tank.

Other choices were Hyundai Accent, Nissan Sentra and Ford Focus.

Place you picked the car up from: Holiday Inn on 192 and drop off at MCO.
Catergory of car hired: Standard Car
Caregory of car supplied: Either Full Size or Premium
Make of car you got: Chevrolet Impala V6 LT
Hire car company used: Alamo Brits

As we had use of our parents car for this trip we only needed a 1 day hire so hired from Holiday Inn on 192 and booked a standard car and ended up with the Impala V6. It was a nice car and very quick. This car comes with Apple Car and whatever the Android version is as well. I have to say I really liked this car but probably wouldn't bother with the 192 again and just head back to the airport to hire where I can skip the counter.

This car had a huge boot. It easily took our 2 large cases, 1 medium case and 1 full size carry on with ease. I reckon I could easily get in 3 large cases and 2 medium cases and still have a little space to cram other bits and bobs in on top.
