So far they’re saying as the original booking was made in 2019 and this is a continuation it’s ok
But I’ll most likely wait to confirm flights etc till it lifts
But dh needs to book the time off now or he won’t get it
Booking agent will work with me on that

I would go for October. Hopefully things might be getting back to normality by then, fingers crossed.

This is what I was going to ask you, whether you’ll be covered by insurance in the unfortunate event that one or all of you became ill with covid-19. Without that, I wouldn’t consider even 2021.

(This is the situation we’re in - our August trip is covered because we booked it a year ago, but I’m pretty sure it won’t happen. I don’t think we’ll be able to move our dates because I believe our insurance would treat that as a new booking, and we would no longer be covered for covid-19 while out there. Can I ask which insurance provider you use? I know we can’t switch ours now, but just thinking there’s a tiny chance it might be the same as ours, and maybe they would treat a change of dates as part of the old booking 🤞 )

Anyway, as someone with an August booking in place, and not expecting to go, I’d pick October out of those choices, and given the information that your insurance will cover you if you have to cancel / if you go and become ill.

Nationwide is the insurance
I’ve asked for it in writing though I don’t believe anything said on the phone any more

It will be based on what the advice is when you travel not when you book. Its highly doubtful this will still be advice come September.

I’ll be interested to know if they send through that in writing, as we are also with Nationwide, and perhaps I misread the long thread here on the Dibb, but I thought that said that any booking changed since a date in mid March wouldn’t be covered if the subsequent trip got cancelled due to Coronavirus as it’s now a known thing?

I’m not disputing what you’ve been told, as I might of misunderstood the thread and I read it a few days ago, so might of remembered it incorrectly - but all I know is that it left me feeling that if my August trip gets cancelled, I will seek a refund and not rebook anything until things are safer and corona isn’t the threat it is now.
