To add to this.. yes US airlines fly from the UK to the US.. but not from slots they 'own' as they are purely flying the route back to their base airport, that's all.

Eh? You've missed what I'm trying to say.. excluding VS, there isn't a single US airline which operates direct into Florida. I wasn't talking about the US airlines which you can grab an in-direct flight with.
Anywho.. this thread is completely spiralling and that's my queue to head out. Stay safe all!

Do AA not for example fly from London to Miami direct?
Yes, it might be a couple of hours less convenient, but that isnt a massive problem (having gone via Miami a few times) Anyway, if VS go bust, then we will have no option to look at alternatives. I cant see the UK government bailing them out. |

Both Delta and American fly direct London- Miami... my preferred route in to Florida if not multi centring.
If some players such as Norwegian and VA stop flying to Florida, it is no big deal for me. From my door to my Orlando accommodation, I reckon that it is quicker indirect via Atlanta in any case with a 3 hr layover going out. (Far quicker Immigration and customs , plus the departure will be from LHR rather than Gatwick). Coming home, it is about the same with a 1 hr layover. The other advantage is that it brings in to play, Daytona, Pensacola, Destin, Key West, thus saving on return driving journeys if you want a Florida multi centre. People may have to think laterally if they want to keep prices down.

Maybe Disney will acquire the Orlando routes and run them as an extension of Magical Express!

Wasn't going to respond, but yeah I've noticed my mistake. Should've put Orlando instead of Florida, however both AA and Delta fall under alliance routes meaning these routes can be stopped at any second.
For the sake of the staff (peoples holidays can take a back seat right now imo), let's hope VS can acquire a deal with the government to secure a loan. Now I'm outta here.

Excited about Disney

We are looking at September or October this year, but that is dependent on two of our group being able to amend their leave requests.
Hoping things will be manageable over there by then.
