3 hours is the minimum. I done this in June and got the very first flight to Heathrow then just had a leisurely browse around Gatwick and got on the 1.25pm flight. Can you possibly do that? Even though I had plenty of time the run up to that domestic flight was awful I was worried sick I’d miss the flight.

Have a you looked at going via Dublin instead? no transfer problems and can work out cheaper sometimes, look at fly drive options too. We are going Manchester Via Glasgow to Orlando in May and direct home and it worked out so much cheaper so don't rule out going north either!

I couldn't cope with the stress of the transfer between the airports. All it needs is a snarl up on the m25 and you are goosed. Amsterdam or Dublin are easier or Philly or atlanta

We didn't this year, first flight landed 8:10 into Heathrow, second flight departed Gatwick at 11:10.

Was tight but we managed it easy, and long as you have a taxi waiting and there's no big hold ups will be fine.

I did note though that the flight from Manchester the week before was cancelled so you can always be unlucky.

I spoke with ba before hand and asked about missing the second flight and they said because the transfer was with there recommended 3 hours that they were responsible in finding you another flight, e.g. the later flight that day.

It all went well for us and it saved us over £2000! Vs direct from Gatwick on the same flight!

Do you have to arrange your own transfer - I always thought BA took you on a bus?
