Being bigger at Walt Disney World
I am a uk size 20 and I’m worried about fitting onto the rides with my kids (6 and 2) can anyone share their experiences? Will I have any problems?

I’m a 24 and have a 3&4 year old. I’ve not had any problems. I worried about this for a year before we went but not a problem at all. I had a bad experience in the uk thinking my littlest would fall out. Never felt like that here. A lot of the rides have single bars and the ones that don’t you just make sure they go to the correct side.

America has a lot of large people, dont worry, disney (and everywhere else) is suitable for every person of every shape and size.

My mums next door neighbour is a size 22, quite evenly spaced out if that makes sense (not pair shaped etc) she was fine on the rides which she had panicked for months over 💕
However she really struggled with her feet and her inner thighs. She was crying in pain at one point bless her. Her shorts had rubbed her skin raw in the heat and her feet swelled horrendously. Can anyone advise on that? She is booked to go again in 2020 and she plans to join sliming world. Her goal is to be a size 16-18. They don’t want to do Christmas or Easter (DDP) so they are tied to summer holidays with the little ones so that’s when it’s really hot. |

LANOCAINE Chafing Gel at any chemist here - fabulous stuff. I'm a real water babe n in the heat I used to suffer with thighs getting so sore then friend recommended it & I now highly recommend it

I went last year at the heaviest I’ve been to Florida and managed on all the rides no bother as a size 20. My feet did swell massively last year compared to previous years though and I struggled to buy shoes as I didn’t know if the sizing would be right! We were only there a week though and it was pretty full on.

The swelling occurs as the veins swell, it's your body's way of trying to cool down. Drink plenty of water and rest stops, aim for hotel / pool breaks in the afternoon so she can lay down and raise her legs. Soak her feet in cold water and wear crocs - these allow the feet to breathe and move more freely rather than restricted in shoes or trainers. Talc is also good for chafing, if shes wearing a skirt or a dress then advise her to buy some cheap cycling shorts - I swear by them in the summer, helps with the rub! |

What I’m worried about is fitting into the rides with my children ie with lap bars etc would die if I was told to get off a ride because my child wouldn’t be safe if you see what I mean!

not true.
FOP is not rideable for people with big calves. I can tell you I wasn't able to ride. and rides are restricted when it comes to size and weight ... that's the reason why they have test seats at the entrance of rides (OP if you fear you won't fit on a ride, do try the test seats before queuing I'm a man, I wear from 2XL to 3XL pants, I'm 300lbs, wear most of my weight in my belly, with lympheodema in the lower limbs (very swollen legs when I was slightly lighter, I had to use the exterior seats on Forbidden Journey, and the restraints barely clicked in place (I could breathe but it couldn't have been any tighter) and I know this year with 8 more kilos, I won't even try to get on it. I barely fit on gringotts (restraints will hurt my legs to a point it's painful even thinking about riding Hulk and rockit are a big no. at disney's, it's a bit easier, but I know I can't do space mountain, simply due to the fact that I can't get out of the rocket after the ride and I can barely close the restraints. I may be a bit larger than the average dibber, but I've seen much larger guests. anyway, the statement you have made above is highly incorrect, at least as far a my fat-me is concerned. |
