Booking with ba

Quick question

If i was to book a flight, airport hotel and car with BA for feb with a deposit

if we wasnt able to go ( through own choice) would i be able to cancel the flight and car hire and change the hotel to a universal hotel for august

An interesting question, but one that only BA can provide the correct answer.

You'll get lots of opinions on here and mine is no you won't be able to change and you'll lose your deposit.

I think if you cancelled it, you’d lose your deposit. Cancelling all elements and changing to hotel only isn’t a package, so don’t think this is an option.

Who knows what the situation will be by then, currently BA are allowing free amendments for holidays booked from March onwards that depart by end December- this may change, but as things are at the moment I think you’d lose the deposit.

I'll second Jim, only BA can provide the answer.

However I think what you're asking for wouldn't be possible as you're changing a package to a hotel only which doesn't fall under the same protection as a package etc... so would be a case of the entire package being cancelled, losing the deposit and then re-booking as hotel only.

you are all correct,spoke to someone at BA and they have said i would have to keep flights and a ground option to not lose deposits

TBh if they had said yes we would all do it! Pay for a flight in full or book a package & pay deposit & then change to flight only ... mmmm let me think

Currently for new bookings the flights can be moved free of charge but there is an admin fee to move non-flight parts like car hire and hotels.
