Not Florida, as I’ve only been once (for a week, with 3 days in the parks - my grandparents took my sister and myself, and that was what they could afford. It was a good holiday - we were used to a week in a caravan in North Wales every year (also good) so it was exciting to do something so different, and 3 days of WDW was more than we’d ever expected to have.)
But for DLP, people often ask me for advice on getting a good price, what to do while there etc, and I love nothing more than talking about my favourite place! I agree that a list of pros and cons would go down better than pure criticism. As above, everyone’s holiday is different, so try to figure out cheap / simple changes they could make, rather than replanning their whole trip.

I too only offer advice when requested however I do always try to make it more of an information service than actual "advice" by giving pros and cons to both sides of any point (i.e. villa vs onsite/Lyft vs rental car etc) and then leave it to them to decide what to do. I work in the travel industry so I do tend to get questions A LOT!
Everyone's idea of a perfect holiday is different after all. I like to plan to the nth degree but I know a lot of folks prefer to completely wing it.

I’d tell them how usually spend my holiday time, explain the parks and the Florida area and all it’s got to offer.

If they already think they might get bored after 3 days in Florida then I think Florida isn't for them. Especially not given the cost. I tend not to go on holidays thinking I'll be bored after a few days. If they've done even a little bit of research and looked at what's there then it mustn't appeal to them if they think 3 days is enough.
Are they planning on visiting the theme parks? Or just doing beaches and the like? Personally, I'd be honest with them and say 3 or 4 days isn't enough. The full 7 days probably isn't enough either - but is probably closer to what's required. Tell them that most people stay for 2 weeks and often still don't manage to do everything. In Orlando there are 7 main theme parks, 4 or 5 water parks and lots of minor attractions. Then there are another 2 theme parks over in Tampa plus Kennedy Space Centre on the opposite coast. If those sorts of things interest them, then they are not going to get bored after 3 days. They are probably going to need longer than a week to do these things. If those things don't interest them (and plenty of people aren't into theme parks) then it might not be a good idea to visit Orlando. Spend the 7 days in NYC instead. Or spend 3 days elsewhere (eg. Boston?) and then 3 or 4 days at NYC.

Agree with others, point them in the direction of the Dibb. Or you tube! And get them to do a little more research. Explain about the different parks (thrilling coasters vs the more stately rides and parades!) and get them to do a bit more thinking. My BiL thought Disney world was “Alton Towers in America “. We showed him a map and some you tube clips. My friend constantly mixes up Euro Disney and Disney World. A lot of people have no idea! I am surprised that the young adults haven’t done more internet based research. Maybe you could suggest some websites to them. My 12 yr old niece now loves the DFB Guide and has made a list for her parents 😉

This is the kind of cousin I only see at weddings and funerals so I don’t have contact info for this kids. I don’t do social media myself so I’m going to email my cousin the info. I agree it is strange that his kids aren’t doing more research! I know his son has always wanted to go and the parks must appeal but I think as others have said in posts they have no idea just how many parks there are or how big they are. I’m thinking they’re thinking of Alton Towers too!
They def won’t be coming back next year. They wouldn’t have the finances for that. It’s happening this year as his wife’s mother sadly passed away over the summer and they were left a little money. Anyway, I’ve put together a little PDF of info and strongly suggested they consoler at least 10 days. I’ve also included a link to the Dibb. |

I kind of get how some people think 3 days in a theme park is boring. My ex came to Florida with me and wasn't overly impressed which gobsmacked me as I could spend a month there and never be bored!
Unless people are on my level I don't usually enjoy talking about Florida Edited at 08:22 PM. |

Nope I never get involved now unless someone actually asks me for advice. I used to but not everyone appreciates the advice or decides not to listen to it so I just don't bother unless asked

I agree that it is difficult to say they need to do and that but to point them in the right direction would be best.
Pose the question of what are they expecting from the holiday, what do they know about New York and Orlando. Are they looking for thrills or something else. How much do they want to spend. They may prefer universal over 3 days.

I would only say something if I was specifically asked and I don’t think I ever have been to date. Every adult I know is more than capable of planning their own holiday.
