Mobile Rainforest Cafe - only accepting original passport as ID.

A heads up - We have judt been refused service for alcohol using a driving license & copy of passport at Rainforest Cafe DS.

Apparently earlier this week there was an “incident” and they have been told they can now only accept original passport.

I would presume the message has gone out to the whole Landrys group (so Trex & Bubba Gumps maybe.)

A bit annoying when only the other day one of their bar staff told us “hey, you only need a drivers license & a photo of passport”. So that’s what we did and got turned down.

Really fancied a strawberry mojito lol

I think Disney owned restaurants are staying the same for now though.

Is this for somebody borderline in your party? We are in our 40s, presumably we won’t need to carry passports?

I never needed a passport at all when drinking. My daughter who was 28 but very young looking did. I’m interested in the answer as well. I hate having to carry around passports

no, you will probably be asked for ID. Those days seem over for me now I am nearly 50 , only been asked once here in LA and they gave up looking at my driving licence as they couldn't work out that the DOB was on line 3

Disney policy is to take gov ID - passport OR if you don't have this, they will accept your photo DL and a picture of your passport (i.e. on your phone). They don't recognise our DL as official gov ID.

I would complain if someone told you that you can't use DL & photo of passport. I am not aware of this policy changing.

We have never had any problem using our driving licenses and a photocopy of our passports except for one meal at Sanaa. We had to show the CM the policy but he still didn't believe it so we ended up speaking with a manager who said we were right. The CM was off with us throughout the rest of the meal but we got our drinks!

I hope the policy hasn't changed. I don't fancy carrying our passports around constantly.

I agree Laura, I don't want to carry my passport around! It's not safe.

I might just send guest services a wee email and query this policy...

But it's Landrys not Disney. They may be on WDW property but they can set whatever policy they like. Albeit it sounds nuts!
