Baby Shower...

We have been invited to a Baby Shower!

It is at our neighbours house, we don't know them overly well, they haven't live there too long...

I'm not sure what people normally buy for the baby/couple to take to a baby shower?

Any advice please?

Thanks.

I don't think I would go to a "baby shower" for someone I didn't know well. Actually I have never been to one as they were never been a thing whilst my contemporaries were having children.

I have bought lots of presents for babies over the years and usually go for a cute outfit. I'd probably do the same here.

Thank you.

I have not been to one either hence I am unsure as to what to buy for them?

It's a bit of an unusual situation in that the couple came to our home back in April in an emergency situation (they are both Dr's). So although we do not know them very well, we have a 'bond' with them due to events back in April.

We have kept in touch via messaging etc I just don't know them well enough to know their tastes etc?

Could I give a gift voucher? Any suggestions which store?

Thanks again.

I've been to a couple of baby showers and you can't go wrong with anything baby. If you want to steer clear of clothing due to not knowing their tastes, what about a practical baby item? Like a Gro Bag? Or a cuddly toy? Or some baby books?

Have a look at JellyCat toys. They’re lovely! Also the card factory did some lovely baby things last year, milestone cards, keepsake boxes, that sort of thing I had a couple of babies to buy for last year xx

I was at a baby shower on Saturday for a great niece. Her Mum organised it all and notified people that they didn't have to bring gifts. She suggested bringing a book to start up a small library for the baby, a book that meant something to you. Although apprehensive as it's the first one I've been too it was a lovely afternoon. We did also take baby gifts as we may not see her for a while. Most people took the books with the exception of a friend who is a midwife. She had a gift box of all the useful things she thought would help for hospital. As others have mentioned a small gift or toy would be fine.

Maybe they are using the Baby Shower as a way to meet the neighbours.

Big fan of books for children, you could by your childhood favourite or that of your children. Pamper packs for mum to be are nice. Or offer to bake a cake.

Have fun.

You can't go wrong with some small practical baby items, like little socks, bibs, etc
