Just asked my friend who is a BA dispatcher, she said you would be bumped to the next available flight, they will need a doctor's certificate to say she is fit to fly. Call BA asap.

What a horrible time for you all. I so hope your daughter is feeling better soon, and you are all able to fly. Linda

Firstly to the OP, I hope your daughter is out of A&E soon and is better / cleared to fly. It would be great if you could make your original flights.
As has been said above, contact both BA & your insurers right away & explain the situation. Whilst it is likely the OP is booked on restricted tickets where technically no date change is allowed, i.e. the cheaper fares, the airlines are flexible when it comes to medical related issues. (The restrictions are on the cheaper fares more to stop you changing your dates of your own choosing, or cancelling and expecting a refund, which you will not get). Given that there are only just two full weeks left of the school holidays (they start back on 3rd Sept where I live), it is possible that the outbound flights will start to get a bit quieter in the coming days. If so, this clearly potentially helps the OP if they have to delay. Hope it all gets sorted & the OP has a wonderful holiday. |

I agree with what pp have said defo contact BA & insurance to see where you stand. Such an awful and unlucky situation to be in. I hope your little one is ok most importantly.

When my DD was 5 we flew to a wedding about 1K miles away. During the reception I noticed some spots on her and confirmed they were chicken pox. Called her pediatrician at home and was told she should not fly until her scabs had crusted over. She was contagious to others even though her case was mild and she wasnb't acting that sick.
I called the airline to see if they would refund her ticket and mine so I could rent a car and drive home. My ex and the boys would fly as planned. I ended up talking to a supervisor after the initial customer service person said they would delay and rebook but would not refund the tickets. The supervisors suggestion was to just bring her on the flight and sit her away from others. So we had her in the window seat with me and a brother next to her. I am not sure why they would refund the tickets as it would be safer for the rest of the passengers and I couldn't afford to wait over a week for her to be OK to fly without spreading the chicken pox. So unless things have changed a good deal, you may be able to rebook for a later date although they won't refund your money. |

They shouldn’t have let you fly with chickenpox at all! There is no way to sit away from others on an aircraft due to the recycled air! I’m shocked they did this!
OP I hope your daughter is ok and you manage to get on your holiday. Just a word of warning, you must get a fit to fly certificate and ensure that it is noted down on her medical notes otherwise your insurance will be void. I would call BA explain the situation and see what they say. |
