Sorry I misread your post. I guess at least you know what to expect although with a 10 year gap I’m sure it will be all very new for you too. Good luck with your training and with this weekends race. Hope the weather is kind to you.

Ive done london twice.

My top tips are
on the day DONT run with earphones in - you will miss all the atmosphere and people shouting your name encouraging you on - this is vital in those last few miles!
and following on from that make sure you have your name easily visible on your top - so people can shout at you!

(believe me i thought I would struggle without mine and had them in my pocket just in case but i definitely didn't need them!)

Take the odd jelly baby, interact with the crowd where you can - ie slap hands as you pass by people.

Make sure you have run in all your kit on your long run - I hadn't run in my vest top for long enough and it rubbed the inside of my arms.

My running tip - I'm no expert it just worked for me - was to make sure I was at 10miles by December then added a mile on a week or every other week after that.

Enjoy!

Thanks for all the tips. 10 miles by December seems a long way off at the moment though

For the Edinburgh half, I did 2 5-7k runs mid week and a longer run at the weekend, adding on a mile each week. It’s a really achievable way to do it.

No one in our running group got a place, which seems incredible! Tbh I was hoping not to get in as with a holiday in Feb/March and then a big jury trial at work, my training would have been severely disrupted.

Good luck for the raffle!

I think that sounds like a good plan and I think will work for me. Thanks for that.
